week 9 Final concept

The last two weeks has been tough for us as our final concept was rejected in the WIP presentation. What even worse is that all our back-up plans were killing in the cradle. As a result, we devoted ourselves to new concepts. Fortunately, we got one and was accepted by Lian.

Inspiration:

This concept’s idea comes from my personal life experience. I had a high fever during the time our previous concept idea was rejected since it was similar to other groups, and we had to come up with a new idea. At that time, all I could think of are thermometers and syringes. Hence, this is how I came up with this idea—to put the 2 models in the park.

Relation with Sydenham skatepark: syringe and thermometers are commonly seen and used when we have a high fever. Similarly, the skaters are having a “skate fever” when they are at the skateparks because they are enjoying themselves and the excitement increase their body temperature like when they have a fever.

We created futuristic design of syringes and thermometers for skateboarders in the Sydenham skatepark. This art installation combines technology and art to bring a new, interactive experience to skaters.

We talked about our concept with Lian, and she seems happy with it. Moreover, she gave us some suggestions on the materials and how to achieve a better visual display  and what kind of power supply we should use. These suggestions lead us a direction to work on our project. The next step is writing the code for it.
