#Blog5-Team 2: Chilli Cray

In Week 7, we received some advice from Karen and Lian.

The main issues of Assignment 1 are:

Background research: The  design precedents we found should be analysed and connected with our projects. For example, what could we learn from that cases.

Site research: We need focus on which part of the skatepark could be used for our design, The design need more specific details of site to support. For example, where  we could place sensors and whether is available for design.

User research: The persona should be created to get a brief introduction of user, all the research should be connected with site research.

Concept: due to the visual condition of projection is affected by lights in skatepark, we should re-design all the concepts which projection involved.

Presentation: Spend too much time on presenting about background research. The progress (who takes which part and take how much time) should be arranged in rehearsal.

There is no class on Saturday.

On week 8, we redesigned our concept.

We choose this part as our design area.

We put 2 PIR Sensor on either side of the ramp and put a combination of LED strips on the flat area in section 37. It is made by LED matrix inside and LED circles outside.

So when skaters pass through, the PIR sensor will detect a skater pass by or not, and then trigger the LED circle to generate lighting effects, and if skaters do tricks, the IMU sensor which attaches to the body of skater will send the variable to activate the LED matrix to add some special lighting patterns.

The PIR sensor will be activated through different directions and show different lighting effects, and feedback from IMU sensor also show different lighting effects according to different skating tricks.

Additionally, we could add a special effect and sound for the design. It depends on our progress.
