Week 6 Feedback from assignment 1

In this week, our job mainly focused on refine concepts based on Lian’s feedback on assignment 1. We chose one concept as our final display and sensor to assist it. In the meantime, we prepared the contents for next’s presentation

  • Research Feedback

Among all of the three assignment, one is considered not very practical and impossible to make it in real life. The other two, one is a motion tracking device and the other is a sound based interaction. we are going to decide the final one between these two. We are not confident with the sound based interaction since none of us know about sound editing, so we are more favored of the motion traction one.

  • Equipment preparation

Our initial plan is using 2 led strips and 2 ultrasonic sensors to track the height of skaters. Ultrasonic could detect the distance of the skaters and date received will reflect on the led strip, the higher the skaters the higher of the led strip. The site we chose is No.16. During we stayed in the park,  we observed that some skaters would challenge themselves on this ramp, not a lot though, since this ramp is very step. Moreover, according to a skater, ramp No.12, which located just opposite to ramp No.16 within 2 meters makes it even harder to skate. However, there are still a few skaters succeeded skating from ramp No. 12 to the nearly top of ramp No.16

The reason why we finalize this concept is because ramp No.16 is one of the most challenging ramp among all ramps.  The electronic interaction design will show the skaters clearly how high skaters can reach. We intend to make the height more visually  present to skaters and also for the audience.
