Design concept final version
Due to the feedback of our presentation, we moved our spot back to make a use of a tree which helps us building modelling in 3 dimensions. Based on the shape of the rectangle fence, we proposed a ladder of LED light boxes. The design target is to interact the light decoration with the skaters and visitors. People walking across our area, the light will be lit.
The 2d drawing version is like this:
The 3d modelling version will be looked like this:

Each stair will have one LED strip inside. To make the model like a ladder more, we decided to produce 4 floors. So we’ll use 16 LED strips.
However, after consulting with our tutor Louis, he recommended us to narrow down the number of LED strips to only 8 to 9. So our shape should be changed. We decided to only keep two sides of the led ladders which face the skaters, the other two sides will use wood to block the inside view to keep the design clean and tidy. In addition, we tried to make our design have the feeling of contemporary art. The ladders have raised shape and sunken shape.

Material choosing
The material we first chose is clear acrylic, because of its a hard material. However, we abandon it, since it’s transparent totally, people can see our cables and LED strips clearly.
we went Bunnings Alexandria to see the material together
The next material we choosing is polypropylene. This material has a scrub surface which can not only help diffuse and soft light but also help hide cables. We bought the material in the DMAF lab. polypropylene paper, 15 bucks each piece is pretty affordable for our group. Also, it is suitable to build our shapes and easy to be laser cut.
